Kayaking Courses

During the summer months the club runs kayaking course for children and adults. These take place at the Musselburgh lagoons or, if conditions are favourable, adults may do a short sea journey. They are run by a highly qualified LEVEL 5 instructor.

We run kids and young persons’ taster sessions for 6 – 12 year olds and for 13 – 15 year olds. These courses last 2.5 hours. All kit – helmets and buoyancy aids are provided, though students will get wet so we urge parents to bring a towel and a change of clothes when collecting. If possible, wet suits should be worn. We are also running a kids Paddlepower passport course in August (the equivalent of one star)

We also run adult (16+) courses at 1 and 2 star Level. This is an introductory course where students learn the basic strokes, how to steer the kayak, how to capsize safely and be rescued, but mainly it will be a lot of fun and a chance to play around in canoes as well as kayaks. Courses last from 10am to 4pm.

We would encourage students to progress to 2 Star and 3 Star Level and can run these courses if there are sufficient numbers.

Details of 2012 courses will be posted soon.
