Membership

Portobello Sailing & Kayaking Club welcomes new members.

There are three membership classes: Juniors (under 18): £20 pa, Adult ((18+): £40 pa and Family (2 adults + >1 junior): £100 pa.

Membership is mandatory for anybody wishing to buy a course or to store a boat the club’s dinghy yard.

Each year we have a summer BBQ to which all members are invited. 

The club has a small number of dinghies and kayaks which qualified members are able to use ( see renting) and for anybody who wants to sail but has neither a boat nor is sufficiently qualified, we offer the opportunity to sail with a club member on Sunday afternoons when we have rescue boat cover available.  You need to book this by emailing sundaysailing@sailporty.org.uk.  We will contact you and confirm plans for the day.

We recommend that wetsuits and/or oilskins (waterproofs) are worn for sailing, however we have very limited changing facilities. There is the swimming pool just along the promenade where you can shower and change but we recommend that people come dressed ready to sail with a towel and a change of clothes if you wish to change after. A small number of buoyancy aids are available to borrow.

You can join the club and pay for membership online and if you store a boat with us you can pay your storage  and membership fees together.
