Volunteer

The club is run by members for members. Activities are organised by three main groups:

The Sailing Committee
 organises all sailing and sail racing events, including Wednesday evening activities for Junior Members. It also covers kayaking. Opportunities to get involved include:

  • Organising and umpiring races;
  • Coaching and training;
  • Providing safety boat cover;
  • On-shore support;
  • See the duty rota for slots needing to be filled.

The Rowing Committee organises all rowing activities. Opportunities to get involved include:

  • Organising rotas for rowing sessions;
  • Coaching and coxing;
  • Helping with attendance at away regattas and organising our home regatta at the end of July.

The Yard & Infrastructure Committee looks after and maintains all our facilities and equipment including the yard, shed, quad and club boats. Opportunities to get involved include:

  • Keeping the yard clean and tidy, and cutting the grass;
  • Keeping the shed organised and equipped;
  • Maintaining and repairing club rescue boats, dinghies, kayaks, rowing skiffs and trailers;
  • Maintaining and repairing our quad bike and outboards.

You can contribute as little or a much time as you like - from clearing up the yard for a couple of hours, to crewing the safety boat on a couple of afternoons, to maintaining the rowing skiffs a couple of hours every month or so. If you have particular professional or trade skills to offer, please let us know. Volunteers are welcome to join the relevant committee if they wish.

To get involved, email the most relevant person on our contact page - or speak to us in the yard or on the beach.
